Jersey Presentation

Over 80 people attended this years annual event held at the Faculty Club. Such large support from the alumni was definitely noted by many of the rookie players, which is always a good thing. In addition, the alumni would like to thank John Sexsmith for a job well done in the emceeing department.

Alumni Games

75 alumni players took part in the three games held on that Saturday. The games were divided solely on age, where the first game consisted of players under the age of 35, the second consisted of over 50, and the third game consisted of 35 to 50. A large thank you goes out to all that attended.

Under 35 Game

The Under 35 game could have possibly been the best defensive battle that Alumni Weekend has ever seen. With only 5 minutes remaining in the game, the green team scored six unanswered goals in order to overcome a 16 to 10 deficit and tie the game up at 16.

35 to 50 Game

The last game on the Saturday event featured the 35 to 50 year old players. History took place in this game as Jeff Helland actually scored a goal on a break away!!

Over 50 Game

Considering the ages of the guys in this game, not to mention the combined memory loss, this was one of the best years ever for the 50 and over gang.

To the best of our recollection, it was a ferocious battle with end to end displays of brilliant hockey skill and savvy.  Both goalies, Zane "Cujo" Jakubec and Brad "Patrick" Hall, stood on their heads as the Whites squeaked out a 6-5 victory...or was it the Greens that won??

No matter, it was a terrific time, a chance to visit and play with lifelong friends and to re-live past Golden Bear conquests.  Thanks to Scott McDonald, Dennis Cranston and Bobby Niedzielski for organizing a SUPER weekend.
