1. TO ORGANIZE SOCIAL FUNCTIONS
TO ENCOURAGE INTERATION OF ALUMNI FROM ALL ERAS.
- The Annual Alumni Reunion Weekend,
usually held in November to kick off the season, brings
guys together to play in alumni games and to take in a
weekend of Bears hockey action.
- The Annual Sweater Presentation, held during a pre-game
luncheon, brings together alums, players, coaches and
parents. Former players present the current team with
their jerseys for the upcoming season.
- The Annual Golf Tournament,
usually held in August
- Friday Night Hockey - Scrimmages during the Friday
practice time of the current team where former players
show a thing or two to the injured players or those not traveling
or playing that weekend
2. TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE GOLDEN BEARS HOCKEY PROGRAM
- The establishment of scholarship and endowment funds
- Team meals for road trips
- Equipment and supplies beyond the regular athletic
budget. The Alumni Skate Fund provides each player with
funds towards one pair of skates each year.
- Plaques and Alumni jerseys for graduating players
- Recruitment traveling expenses for coaches, beyond the
regular athletic budget
3. TO PROMOTE THE GOLDEN BEARS HOCKEY PROGRAM
- Our Annual Pee Wee
Christmas Tournament draws the top teams from Northern
Alberta and draws attention to our facilities and our
program.
- To work with minor hockey officials and teams to promote
hockey development in the community and the awareness of
the Bears program.
